Sandie Coutts was born in the North East of England, the youngest child in her family, and was driven from an early age to serve and make a difference in the world. Throughout high-school, Sandie volunteered her time supporting children with disabilities. She attended the Universities of Newcastle and Teesside, where she obtained a BA in English Literature then graduate degrees in Education/Human Development.
Sandie then spent 10 years teaching throughout the elementary age range in the public school system and facilitating early childhood courses at her local community college. Sandie moved to the USA with her three young children in 2001 and began working in leadership roles in the non-profit early childhood field. For 6 years Sandie led innovative programs and services for inner city families in metro Denver.
During these years Sandie discovered the Enneagram and began using it as a personal and organizational development tool. In 2008, Sandie took a position with Jefferson County government, developing training programs for Human Services employees and co-leading the department’s efforts in diversity, equity and inclusion. Sandie worked in the role of OD & Training Specialist where she had the opportunity to create training programs for all county departments, including custom programs for supervisors/managers and a coaching initiative for the Sheriff’s Office.
In partnership with the OD & Training Manager, Sandie introduced Enneagram to County leaders and became a certified coach. In 2012, Sandie joined Jefferson County Public Library as the manager of Employee Relations & Development. This was a time of transition and economic decline for the Library. Sandie was a strategic partner in several major initiatives that transformed the organizational culture, launching a new service model, securing financial stability through a successful Mill Levy campaign and embedding the Enneagram into the fabric of daily life for the 400+ employees. In 2014, as the Director of People & Culture, Sandie continued to lead transformation and organizational expansion, becoming certified through Prosci as a Change Manager, earning senior HR professional certification and co-facilitating a new county-wide Leadership Academy with the Enneagram as its primary professional development tool.
Throughout the last 10 years Sandie has presented at local and national conferences, facilitated team and organizational development and provided expert coaching for other servant leaders or aspiring leaders. In February 2021, Sandie accepted the position of Human Resources Director for the Jefferson Center. In this new role, Sandie oversees people operations for a large, community non-profit that is focused on creating healthier, stronger communities and being a leader in the behavioral health field. She continues to build her network of Enneagram students, enthusiasts and practitioners, expanding knowledge of the Enneagram to individuals and organizations across the state of Colorado and the western region of the USA.
